Vendor Information
The Center for Black Literature invites vendors to exhibit/sell their work at the Medgar Evers College Campus on Friday, March 30, 2012 through Sunday, April 1, 2012.

How Do I Become a Vendor?
Step 1:
Download and complete the Vendor Application.
Please follow the directions detailed in the form. Your application will be reviewed by the NBWC Committee.
The deadline to submit your application is Friday, February 24, 2012.
Application Fee: $10.00 (US)
Step 2:
If you [or your company] is selected, you will be issued official notification by our Vendor Coordinator. You will be asked to complete a Registration Form YOU ARE NOT CONFIRMED AS A VENDOR UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED NOTICE.
Vending Fees:
Non –Profit -registration fee: $100.00 (US). 1 table.
Non –Profit - registration fee: $200.00 (US). 2 tables.
Vendor / General- registration fee: $200.00 (US). 1 tables.
Vendor / General - registration fee: $400.00 (US). 2 tables.
The deadline to submit your Registration Fee is Friday, March 9, 2012.
Space is limited. If your payment has not been received by this office by this date, your table will be offered to a vendor on the waiting list. Please submit payment with the Registration Form. Retain a copy for your records.
Step 3:
A Confirmation letter will be forwarded to you once all of the fees have been received. Please bring this letter when you check –in at the Conference.
How Are Vendors Selected?
Artists/ Business/ Non-profit Organizations/ Other – we accept a limited but wide range of vendors. Selected vendors will be based on the application pool. The Committee will select a balance of jewelry, clothing, books, and other vendors.
For Authors / Book sellers – content in addition to presentation is considered in the selection process. Individual/ Independent authors and small publishing houses with multiple titles are encouraged to apply; however, please note that it is very challenging to be successful at vending in this space if you are a new writer, one who may not be considered “mainstream”, and are not participating on a panel. (Panelists are selected by invitation only.)
Are Vendors able to share tables? Yes. However, if a table is being shared by multiple parties the following must be adhered to:
- Each party must submit their information as outlined in the application.
- The space is limited and we ask that each vendor and team remain confined to their assigned area.
Basic Information for Selected Vendors:
- Vendors will begin setting up between 8:00am in order to be ready by 10:00 am for the National Black Writers Conference.
- The Center will provide a table and chair for each vendor. Vendors must cover their table.
- The Center will not supply easels or dollies.
- Vendors must break down their table space and clear their area thirty minutes after closing on Friday at 9:00 p.m., on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, 5:00 p.m. Please begin dismantling and cleaning your area in time to comply with this directive. Neither the Center for Black Literature, nor Medgar Evers College, CUNY is not responsible for any loss of property.
- You must use a manual machine or personalize electronic device (i.e. iPhone) with this capability if you will be using credit cards for customer purchases. The Center for Black Literature will not be providing phone lines or special electrical needs.
- Vendors can enter the College parking lot to unload and load merchandise. The vehicle must be removed from the College parking lot because must parking spaces in the lot are facility or pre-paid spots for students, faculty, and staff.
How Can I Promote My Product at the Conference?
Vendors are encouraged to place an advertisement in the Eleventh National Black Writers Conference Souvenir Program Journal (business card size ads available) or consider being a sponsor of the Conference.

If you have “giveaways” (i.e. discount passes, gift cards) that you would like to make available to participants please contact the Center for Black Literature at 718-804-8883. [The Conference generally has 1, 500 – 2, 000 participants over 3 – 4 days.]
